I'm an independent Midwest-based digital journalist, new media designer and author. My passion is science and health communication with a positive social imperative.
My belief is that life is for learning. It's for exploring and (hopefully) contributing something of value to others we're blessed to share this time and space with.
Being the dynamic creatures that we humans are, the paths I've taken, the goals I've set, and the places I've settled for a spell are ever varied and ever enriching.
I don't always get what I want (who among us does -- or should?), but I generally wind up where I need to be. Sometimes I even set out or reach a new destination long before I fully see how the trajectory fits with my overall life's work and meaning, or desires and needs. But it always seems to fit and somehow fall into place.
The one constant?
Giving my all and striving for the best is part of my DNA.
I'm imbued with a passionate attention to detail; a love of expanding my knowledge and heart; a commitment to honing and adding skill sets; a joy of exploration and reaching for the sky; and a need to connect and commit to issues and people beyond my own circle and self.
I still have a lot to learn, share, do. From this vantage-point, there's no better state of being than that.
For most of my life, my fitness routine has included casual running. Nothing competitive. Nothing to brag about. Just a quick jog here or a slow dash there.
Last summer, I started entering races (averaging one a month) and, in October, I ran the Prairie State Half Marathon. [Photo log]
